Strategic Management for Islamic Organizations • Phase One: Analyze

Discover which strengths are special — your competitive gifts for serving Allah.
Value · Rarity · Inimitability · Organization

Instructions

Not all strengths are equal. The VRIO Check helps you identify which of your strengths are truly special — the ones that set you apart and help you serve your mission best. Pick two strengths from your SWOT analysis and test them against four questions. Answer Yes or No.

VRIO Definitions

  • Value: Does it help your community or solve a real need?
  • Rare: Is this something only you have, or do many groups share it?
  • Imitable: Can others easily replicate it, or does it take time and skill?
  • Organized: Do you have the people, plans, and systems to use it well?

Our Strengths Assessment
Pick two strengths and rate them. Answer Yes or No for each question.

Strength Valuable? Rare? Imitable? Organized?

What Do Your Answers Mean?

  • Mostly Yes? That strength is a gem — build on it and protect it!
  • Mix of Yes and No? You have potential — strengthen the weak areas.
  • Mostly No? This strength needs work before it changes your mission.

Closing Reflection

وَإِن تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا "If you tried to count Allah's blessings, you could never enumerate them." (Surah An-Nahl, 16:18)

Allah (SWT) gives each organization unique blessings. Write one action you will take to strengthen your best strength — the one that shines with all four Yes answers, Insha'Allah.
